|Photogrammetry is the science of making engineering measurements from photographs. Based on physics and mathematics photogrammery can be dated back to the mid-nineteenth century. It can be used to determine a vehicles point of rest, the length of a skid mark , the amount of vehicle crush, a person's height, a pothole's depth, or any other dimensions required from objects found in photos or video. Additionally, velocities and accelerations can be calculated from the surveillance video given the frame rate. Grainy surveillance video can also be enhanced for clariety with varying degrees of success which is dependent on the compression algorithm (CODEC) used on the video.
